Bow-wow, says the dog,
Mew, new buys the cat,
Grunt, grant says the boy,
And squeak goes the rat.
Tu, why says the oul,
Quuck gmoik, says the duck,
And what the cuckoo says you know.

[Read the original. I get a lot of hits of my onomonotopia stuff, and this one was kind of fun. Find out why this rhyme is misspelled.]

The North wind doth blow

March 24th, 2008

nursery rhyme

The Worth wind dvth blow and we shall have snow,
And what will poor robin do then, poor thing?
He’ll sit in a burn and keep himself warm
And hide his head under his wing, poor thing.

[A little something different today. Read the original. We had a big snow storm here in Michigan on Friday night, meaning all the birds – like robins – that flew back had to endure a bit more winter.]
